Privacy notice

Short version: we never record your voice, and we keep as little as possible.

The microphone

• The microphone only turns on after you agree, and a glowing ring shows whenever it is live. Tap the ring to mute it at any time.
• Speech recognition is done by your browser’s built-in speech service (for example, Chrome sends audio to Google’s speech service to produce text). Chronoscape never receives, records or stores audio.
• Only the recognized words are sent to our server, to work out which date or command you meant. We do not keep a log of what you said.
• A sound-level meter runs locally in your browser to animate the rings. That audio never leaves your device.

Accounts

If you create an account we store your email, an optional display name, an optional birthday (month and day only), your preferences and a list of dates and clip IDs you have watched, so we can keep every clip in a session unique and show your timeline. Passwords are stored as salted hashes. We keep a short security log of sign-ins (time and IP address) to protect accounts.

Guests

Without an account we use one essential session cookie to keep clips unique for your visit. Guest viewing history is deleted after 7 days.

Narration

Narration scripts are written by an AI model (xAI Grok) from documented facts about the date, then read aloud by your browser’s speech synthesizer. Nothing about you is sent to the model.

No trackers

No advertising, analytics or tracking cookies. Fonts load from Google Fonts.
